This week at SSW

Saturday saw the opening of an exhibition of new work by students from the Gray's School of Art Masters degree course. Two groups worked collaboratively to a brief that asked them to explore some of the specifics of the site and location of the new Ganghut Project space at SSW. The space is an important addition to the range of facilities at SSW, providing a place to install, view and discuss work that may be still in progress or has been completed for exhibition to the public. For students who are unused to presenting work to the public, this is an invaluable opportunity to try out ideas in a 'real-life' professional environment, supported not just by their tutors, but also SSW staff and members of the 'Ganghut' artists group.
The weekend also saw the departure of Marc Dulude from Montreal, who had completed a three month Pepinieres residency at SSW. SSW is the only Scottish member of this international exchange network for young artists. Click here to view Marc's work.
And this week we were delighted to throw open the doors of our upgraded kitchen and dining room. This is the social hub of SSW, and is where artists exchange ideas, form friendships and cook amazing feasts for each other, The new kitchen provides much more space to cook and prepare food, within a lighter, brighter and totally transformed room. We look forward to iot being well used by our next artists in residence.
