Facilities

Here at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, we have a range of facilities for artists, makers and individuals to use, including a foundry, wood workshop, metal workshop, ceramics studio, studio with  library and a community making space. Use of our facilities is supported by technicians and arts workers, who are skilled in supporting visitors of all levels and abilities to learn new skills, make work, develop projects and experiment with making in all forms.

In 2023 our foundry, wood and metal workshops will be closed for repair however there are still lots of ways to access our other recently renovated facilities in ceramics and mould making, community making space and large collaborative studio. Artists can apply to come on residency with us, for a sustained and structured period of research and development of their practices. Can visit us through our Open Access programme, which supports artists, makers and individuals to spend time in our facilities to develop personal projects, fabricate work and learn skills. Get involved through either our Regular Open Studio or Ceramics Open Access, tailored to support beginners through to professional artists in making new work and exploring clay in exciting ways. We also offer a series of popular Courses for all levels, which are a great way to learn skills within a structured timeframe.

We have a good stock of general materials and consumables available for use in the workshops. Through our networks of suppliers we can also cater for more specialist requests. Please let us know on booking, if you require anything in particular and we will try to source it for you.

Anyone using the facilities at SSW must be inducted to the workshop as well as equipment prior to access being granted.
