Freedom At Last apart from the darn gloves
I have been in Lumsden for a wee week. It has been awesome to finally make work without millions of those everyday distractions, hence the fact this is my first journal and I have no profile as yet.
Highlights so far? well the bronze pour yesterday was magic with the rolling hills as the backdrop and a murder of crows circling above them. The bronze didn't quite make it into all the nooks and crannies of the old mould but hey.
The other highlight, darts night in the local pub of course. As an avid fan who hangs out for the lakeside every year what a night! Real darts in the pub beside flat screen PDC darts live from the millenium dome. Finally they have found a decent use for the national tent. The atmosphere was a little fragrant for my delicate only female punter side of the bar nose.
On the work side, I am digging the processes man, but still can't believe how ham fisted I am with a set of gloves on. I managed to wipeout parts of my sculpture on several occasions during the dipping process, and once with the sieve as I thought, 'finally a coat and no accid...doink crack doh'. Obviously can't ditch the gloves with the chemicals, gotta remember the importance of safety, I could learn from Simon 'the wizard of Oz Whitlock' There is no getting that hair caught in a drill or the wire of a dart board. Pity I keep losing all my bobbles though.
Discoveries about myself? In general I am slow! But I new this already, it keeps just being confirmed. But in the glorious wax room where time doesn't exist there is nobody to tell you to hurry up!
