Ceramics – Introduction to glazing from scratch – evening class

This evening course is a basic introduction to making up glazes from scratch. The course will enable participants to use the various materials required to make up their own glazes and explore the differences between glossy, satin and dry glazes as well as using slips and underglaze and learning about different firing programmes.

By the end of the course participants will have made up to 3 personalised glazes of their own and tested them out on tiles and small bowls. Participants are also welcome to bring fired work to glaze in the studio.

The course costs covers tuition, basic materials, firing and consumables as well as access to SSW’s wide ranging glaze recipes.

Overalls, steel toecap boots and personal protection equipment will be provided and must be worn as directed, at all times. (Please bring your own steel toecap boots, overalls or fine particle masks if owned)

*Self – catering accommodation so remember to bring food, basic provisions can be bought at the village garage.
