Image: Anna Francis and Rebecca Davies (The Portland Inn Project)

During this two-day introduction to basic mould making and slip casting course, participants will learn how to make simple ‘drop’ moulds, which will then be used for slip casting the following week. As well as slip casting your piece you will also have the opportunity to explore an experimental approach to slip casting.

Through the course participants will also learn:
Basic plaster working and slip casting processes including mixing, timing and mould releasing.
How mould-making and slip casting could be applied to your own practice

We will have a range of dishes, vases or tumblers to cast, however, participants are also welcome to bring an item that will easily release from a mould to cast of their own.

The course costs cover tuition, basic materials, firing and consumables (including dust masks).
