Forged Metals and Stone Carving Opportunities – Dartmoor Arts

Dartmoor Arts is awarding bursaries for their Forged Metals and Stone Carving Courses as part of their Summer School programme, to take place on the 22nd – 28th of July this summer, to two talented young artists who wish to learn and hone some more traditional skills.

The Forged Metals Course will be hosted by Richard Wood, Award Leader in Metals and acting Programme Leader for Spatial Design, at Plymoth College of Art and Design. David Brampton-Greene is a traditional Stone Carver with many years of experience in teaching the practice, will host the Stone Carving Course.

Dartmoor Arts Summer School takes place in the village of Drewsteignton, just a few miles outside Exeter. The organisation have previously been offering 50% bursaries towards the course fees for those who wish to attend but do not otherwise have the budget or funding to attend. The courses usually cost £535 for the week, including materials and tuition; due to some extra funding they can now award two places on the course for £150 per artist. This will include a weeks tuition, materials, an evening meal and entry to all the Summer School events and talks.*

For more information on the course or to apply please contact Mandy Barber on 01647 281295 or via email at admin@dartmoorarts.com, or visit:

There will also be a limited number of 50% bursaries for other artists who wish to come along but have limited funding.

*The artists will have to cover accommodation and meal costs over the course of the event, though there is cheap camping available on site.
