Technical Placement

This is an opportunity for a recent art graduate to gain more practical experience and training in sculptural techniques and processes.

Working alongside the Senior Technican, Technical Placement participants work as a valuable member of the SSW team, assisting artists achieve their desired outcomes, co-ordinating with SSW office staff in the delivery of programming, and assisting with the implementation of Health and Safety regulations. There is an emphasis on individual development and enuiry, and where possible Technical Placements will focus on the areas they most wish to address. As well as working and training alongside the Senior Technican, Technical Placement participants are expected to develop their own body of work while in residence. Participants will be provided with studio space and access to all facilities, which should be fully taken advantage of.

Participants are asked to keep in mind that SSW is based in a rural location when applying, and be fully aware that they will be part of a communal living environment with other visiting artists and arts practitioners. Technical Placements are provided with self-catering accommodation, studio space and access to facilities, as well as a £50/wk stipend.

To apply: Please send a cover letter stating relative experience and reasons for application, along with a CV and ten digital images of recent work to office@ssw.org.uk with Technical Placement Application and your surname in the subject line.

Deadline: 5pm, 14 February 2012
