Capital Development at Scottish Sculpture Workshop - update

SSW Capital Development
Scottish Sculpture Workshop is delighted to announce that after intensive research and an extended period of fund-raising, we are now getting ready to begin the first stage of a programme of capital re-development at our premises in Lumsden, Aberdeenshire.
Plans for our premises involve:
- A new range of facilities and resources
- Purpose built teaching areas
- Addition of up-to-date equipment
- An additional series of studio spaces, designed to host our new programme of activities and artist projects
The development will allow us to cater for larger groups in the future. As well as this, many new resources and tools will be made available, allowing us to offer a wider range of workshops, available to both artists and members of the public. We are currently undergoing a research period, to identify need and demand of new facilities - possible new inclusions include ceramics, glass and plastics.
To facilitate building work, we will be reducing our programme on site at Lumsden from January 2010 until October 2010 - although we will continue to host artists in residence, in collaboration with local partners, across the year.
Access to facilities, including the foundry and wood workshops, will still be available as usual. We will also be offering a range of taster workshops over the next year – more information on these will be available soon.
For more detailed information about our capital development, or to make a workshop booking, please contact us at office@ssw.org.uk
Scottish Sculpture Workshop would like to gratefully thank:
Scottish Arts Council
Aberdeenshire Council
Aberdeenshire LEADER Fund
The Robertson Trust
The Gannochy Trust
for all their help and financial assistance with our Capital Development Project.
Although SSW has had a fantastic response to our fundraising effort, we are still short of our fund-raising target, and need to make a final boost. If you would like to help Scottish Sculpture Workshop by donating time or funds towards our capital development programme, we would love to hear from you. Contact Simmone on
