Artists based in Scotland are eligible to apply to Creative Scotland Creative and Professional Development Fund to help support their residency.

Emerging Artist Series

Artists taking place in the Emerging Artists Series have worked in photography, to bronze, video and ceramics, and have come from Scotland, the wider UK and internationally.

There are currently FOUR PLACES, for three to five week Emerging Artist residencies over the Autumn and Winter months here at SSW. These residencies are for emerging artists working in the fields of sculpture as well as 2D or time based media. The residencies are offered as a way for artists to complete a body of work for a specific purpose, e.g. an exhibition or portfolio, or to explore a new avenue of work that takes advantage of the SSW facilities or location. The residency costs £230 for three weeks, and can be extended for a further two weeks at the student rate of £130/wk. Residents are provided with self catering accommodation, studio space, use of facilities and basic technical assistance. Residents must pay for materials used, foundry charges and kiln firings.

To submit an application to this program please complete a residency application, including a timeline for your three week stay, material and facility requirements. Please send completed applications to office@ssw.org.uk with Emerging Artists Series and your name in the subject line. Proposals should demonstrate an understanding of SSW and location.

For any enquiries before submiting an application please contact emily@ssw.org.uk.

Deadline: 5pm, Friday, 19 April 2013
