Into The Mountain will culminate in a place-sensitive performance journey for live audiences in summer 2019. Drawing from research, events and workshops developed by Simone Kenyon over the past six years, the performance will be presented in the Cairngorm Mountain Range. Through working directly with this unique environment, the performance explores how women encounter and engage with mountainous environments and explores both historical and current perspectives of gender and access in relationship to the Scottish landscape.
The performance journey will be produced collaboratively, with a group of professional dancers and dramaturgical support from Rosemary Lee. The performance will be accompanied by an original composition by Simone Kenyon and Hanna Tuulikki to be performed by a scratch choir of women local to the Cairngorms region.
If you would like to join the scratch choir that will perform as part of the project, please check out our Open Call on the Into The Mountain website here.
More information on the Into The Mountain performance will be released in 2019. To keep up to date with developments in the Into the Mountain project, visit the dedicated website at www.intothemountain.co.uk.
