I have been meaning to write in this journal since day one or two, so on day sixteen I have finally got down to sitting here to write something.
With mig welding, chop sawing, and grinding of metal, not to mention ordering the wrong amount of metal after taking about three times too long to do a simple maths calculation, which I had in fact miscalculated all took my mind off this journal writing.
Things have been going relatively smoothly, apart from thinking that 3.16m is 301.6cm, (doh!) I have been casting dome like shapes out of white earthenware clay, which to my surprise have been working and coming out of the mold, perfectly. (Phew).
Week two flew by just as fast as the first. Friday night though was a fantastic evening of sunshine, and myself and Rosalind took a bike ride to the Glenkindie Arms Hotel. The thought of steak pie and beer was our motivation, however if I knew it was going to take an hour and a lot of uphill I think I might have thought again. It was brilliant though cycling past Kildrummy castle, and the herd of cows that ran towards us and alongside as we went past. Thankfully a fence was between us. I have never in my life seen a cow run, let alone a herd of cows.
So Week three is upon me already. The plan is more clay slip casting, more mold making, and finishing off the huge fabrication of the metal framework, when the extra metal arrives, and the nuts and bolts to screw it together.
