In the gloamin!!!

Saturday the 10th was spent pondering things early on..bacon and eggs or just eggs???? Eggs it was with muesli!! Then I prompted a hill walk...Zohan and the TWINS joined me in what was a real heart warming uphill jaunt to the top of the crest behind SSW!!! This is the second time i have undertaken this long escent (first time in 2006 with STRONGHOSE), through the farmers fields, then bouncing through the heather! I felt abit like Hairy McMears as I passed on my limited Scottish wildlife knowledge to my walking companions! Just before the first crest I suggested no talking incase there may be a deer to see above the ridge..as we were downwind of any potential beasts above. I thought this was a long shot but to my amazement as we peeped over a family of deer shot off, their white butts dancing in the gloamin! Amazing! Feeling lucky and on a country roll I then suggested that we might find some antlers as its rutting season and the big boys might have lost some lug swords...10 steps forward and bang I found a young male deer skull intact with a bonnie set o antlers atop its heed!!! jesus! Is there a gene in scottish blood that lets the wild talk to you?? Today I felt there was and all of a sudden I had a surging pride in my country and its glorious landscape! When we reached the summit it opened up as did the heavens but we caught sight of a stag..then a young deer darted 10 metres from us... Then Odin clapped his hands in the sky and the clouds burst...dropping rain like gobstoppers..that even the finest goretex couldnae keep out!! I suggested a downward descent was in order as electricity crossed the muckle sky in flashes!!! Side step down the hill mind..like haggis 2 short legs..2 long..cup o tea and a digestive in mind! Ah ken why i have short legs with strong calfs now!! REIDIUS
