10 record players playing the song Born Free with their playing arm anchored by elastic bands

2004

Forever Free is a sculptural installation of 10 portable record players, each playing part of the song Born Free. The playing arms of the record players are bound with elastic bands that allow the record to play in part, before returning to the start of the loop.

Forever Free is an eternally looping, changing remix of the song Born Free, that celebrates the misguided idea that if you pause the movie at the ending the sequels can never happen. This is simultanously disproved by the lo-tech nature of the record players and elastic bands.
