Snow thongs.
As mentioned earlier and elsewhere, the first snow of the winter has recently fallen leaving patches of white in deep dark dingy hollows on the flanks Morven and closer to home, the Buck. These icy scabs will hang around from now till the end of June and if the recent "summers" are anything to go by probably much much later than that.
Here to enjoy the drop in temperature is our last artist of the year, a recent graduate from D of J who goes by the name of Kern Jaimes. Kern is giving the temporary metalwork shop a thorough testing with a project that involves a lot of grinding hammering swearing and welding, mig arc and gas so far but don't rule out the tig option yet. As we weld and shiver it is strange to contemplate that this time next year, thanks to the introduction of a new and innovative concept at SSW called heating, we will be welding away in the new spangly workshops wearing naught but leather thongs and face shields.
Next week we will be without any artists for the first time since January 4th, I reckon we must have had at least 100 of them of all varieties up here in the intervening period. This quiet time will be spent shifting shtuff once more from one place to another. Books computers wardrobes tables and the much travelled beds will be carted off to storage as last prep for commencement of the re-furb.
