Winter@SSW

Back to work this week, or rather not as it turns out. The winter is still here and with temperatures having been as low as -18 the inevitable annual SSW frozen pipe scenario has hit big style.
Good news bad news time. The snow conditions have been fantastic for the old cross country ski-ing and I took full advantage as I cut an inelegant figure across the fells and through the woods. A brief trip to Aberdeen however resulted in a ricked back as I slipped on the icy pavements. I expect a full recovery on or after the last day of the snow.
Worse thing is, due to our current postdiluvial itinerent state and subsequent lack of internet access/mobile signal I am having to rely on the dreaded NECR for road and school closure information. For those unfamilliar with the radio station output it consists mainly of adverts for the repair of agricultural equipment, taxi cabs and local shops for local people. These adverts are interspersed with minor hits from the 80's, Eurovision song contest entries and a selection of B sides from the 60's.
