Ex ferrum ut tractus
We had a slap up meal to celebrate Harry's departure the other monday at the Kildrummy castle hotel, nice place, nice grub.
The hotel management were very accommodating too in letting the board conceal the horse that they had probably generously clubbed together for in an adjacent dining area. What's more, after the presentation of the horse to a clearly stunned Hillary, they allowed her to sit astride said beast in a swanky sitting room for a prolonged photo session, evidence of which will no doubt be somewhere on the workshop website.
Speaking of Harry, and indeed William, those two princes amongst men visited us for a whole week in March learning some foundry skills to take back to AKI with them. Willem and Harry are two of the many technicians at the university and appear to be on a European tour picking up skills from various places. Something we should adopt here I reckon, Simonne I know would enjoy a stint at the University Campus Hawaii to finely tune her cocktail mixing skills, I would enjoy a visit to the antarctic research station to see whether an iron pour was possible and Kelly would probably go anywhere with a good canteen.
Chloe from Dundee was with us over the last 2 weeks casting bronze and a brass pieces for her final degree show. Ginny louped up too for a spot of flower arranging with some rural crusties and fitted in some scratch mould production.
Through coincidental timing they were both on site to see work finally start on the workshop redevelopment, it is strange to see the scaffolding up and something actually happening after tens of thousands of pounds spent on feasability studies, foreign research trips and yet more feasability studies over the past 30 years.
Seems to me that yonder consultancy mullarkey is a fantastic money making opportunity for some whose motto should surely be Tribuo mihi vestri vigilo quod ego mos dico vos.
Never mind eh, Nil illegitimo carburundum!
