Bracken and the Bogie

Thursday,2nd September 2010

The lovely Miss Sinead Bracken has been with us now for nearly 3 weeks, and as a consequence those who dwell by the bonny banks 'o' the Bogie and beachcombers at the mouth of the Deveron have been treated to a steady supply of free beachballs.

Added to that, we have a stretch of the river taking shape in the woodshop and I don'ts means we has a leaky roof.

All crypticisms will be explained at the grand re-opening of the facilities very soon.

The end is nigh for the rebuild process and the place looks great. Craftsmen of all description have been working flat out (except on fridays) and on occasions there have been so many people on site it looks like a scene from a 1930's epic; especially in the occasional sunshine. James the site manager, can be frequently seen in his Robertson issue Johdpurs peaked cap and riding crop wandering around with his megaphone urging the massive workforce to greater and greater endeavour.

"Build that wall"!

"Knock it down"!

It is great to see Fred's vision of upgrading the facilities finally coming to fruition. Not just Fred of course but all the national and international alumni too numerous to list accumulated over the first 30+ years of SSW who have spent the winter months at SSW. As someone with an inability to remember names but blessed with a strong visual memory, here are a few people who I also think deserve mention.

Hairy hippy dribbly and greedy, Ratty Lardy laughy and needy, roaster flinger carver and beardy, popper fisher psycho and the other one.

If you recognise yourself or someone else then well done!

Send SAE + £50 for full list.
