When I started thinking about writing this short bio I decided to make it personal. The following paragraphs will try to unveil something about me through text, that you will notice within seconds of our first encounter.

Years ago I co-curated an exhibition that, amongst other things, problematised the constant travelling done by the contemporary artist in order to exhibit work. In the catalogue's cover, subtly hidden in the text, there was an image that defined beautifully the nomadic lives and practices such as mine; it was a 'flock of accents'. Grouped like a flock of birds, there were the accents from languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Israeli etc, swarming through the page.

I have recently become the new director of SSW in Lumsden. My past and identity, from Africa to Portugal, from The Netherlands and Scotland to Brazil, resulted in a 'flock' of different accents. I am aware that the time spent in this part of the country will contribute to an ever expanding and untraceable language.
