Based on carvings found on 'The Auld Wives' Lifts', an ancient dolmen directly under the flightpath to Glasgow Airport. The crudely carved faces are of indeterminate age, possibly megalithic, and face inbound aircraft with blank eyes.

the title is taken from John Ashbery's epic poem 'the Skaters'.
