ZTAYLORweb7307.jpg Zin Taylor is a Canadian artist who currently resides in Toronto, Canada. Taylor’s practice addresses the role audience plays in constructing new meanings from the field of popular culture. His work reflects on the cultural environment as a construction site where lateral and at times divergent narrative constructions are developed through an active and individual participation. Through his examples, the viewer is invited to approach the elements in their environment as a history to be written as opposed to a role to be read. These elements are used as raw material to be provisionally formed into a working model of an alternative narrative.

Recent exhibitions include Dedicated To You But You Weren’t Listening, Power Plant Contemporary Art Centre, Toronto; 18:Beckett, Blackwood Gallery, Mississauga; Idea of North, Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi, Berlin; Who Named the Days?, Jessica Bradley Art + Projects, Toronto; and Put Your Eye in Your Mouth: a conversational documentary recording Martin Kippenberger’s Metro-Net Station in Dawson City, Yukon at Presentation House Gallery, Vancouver and at YYZ Artist Outlet, Toronto. Upcoming solo exhibitions are planned at Etablissement d’en Face Projects, Brussels and Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi, Berlin.
