Cost: £250 (£225 non residential)
This cost includes tuition, firings and materials

Dates: Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 December

Over this weekend course you will get the chance to explore a range of techniques of printing with and onto clay, learning how to create remarkable graphic quality with basic tools and materials in the SSW ceramic studio. You will learn a variety of mono-printing methods, relief printing, stencil work, as well as using and creating your own decals. You will build and print onto simple greenware tiles, slab-built structures and press formed plates.

Participants are also welcome to bring a range of green and bisqued vessels or sculptural pieces to work on though this is not essential.
A full induction to the workshop will be provided so no previous experience is necessary.
Your choice of pieces will be fired after the course and a clear gloss glaze available. Participants should collect work or make arrangements for the work to be collected, in line with SSW storage policy.

Access

We welcome access riders and/or informal conversations prior to taking part in the course, about what you need to work and live comfortably on site at SSW.

We understand ‘access’ to be what you need to be able to participate in the residency comfortably and safely. These needs may be physical, for example different heights of workstations or access to quiet space. They may be cultural, for example connections with different groups or organisations in the area, or space for worship. Needs may include communication requirements (email, text, phone), translated documents or space for your family (bio/chosen), an ally, support worker or travel buddy to stay. These are just a few examples, and we encourage you to get in touch before you apply, to discuss what we can put in place to support your participation in residency.

Contact Joanne Matthews on arts@ssw.org.uk / 01464 861372 with any questions or to discuss access to this course.
