Some people can be sensitive to the some of the materials used. We provide full PPE but if you have had reactions to silica, oil-based compounds, plaster or such like, please advise us beforehand.

This weekend course offers the opportunity to learn about mould making techniques through creating a low relief plasticine pattern and from this develop a simple sand mould. Participants will then go on to learn multiple-piece mould making, bronze chasing techniques including polishing and cutting and an introduction to basic patina.

Participants will be given the opportunity to assist in the bronze pour and there will be a demonstration of other casting materials including green sand, petro-bond and a brief introduction to lost-wax casting.

The course costs cover tuition, materials, consumables and provision of full foundry personal protective equipment (PPE).
