Ceramic Shell Room at SSW

Make use of SSW facilities at any time with Open Access. Offered on a ‘Production’ or ‘Research’ basis, with non-residential rates also available, Open Access is available to any artist, maker or individual wishing to develop a project, fabricate work or spend time with their practice.

Production Open Access is supported by our technical team who will offer bespoke guidance and training as required to enable you to make use of our wood and metal workshops, foundry, wax and fabrication rooms. Research Open Access offers use of our bright and airy open plan studio, alongside our cosy library, for desk and studio based research and making.

For Ceramics Open Access, visit Ceramics at SSW.

Open Access update: February 2022

Due to our ongoing capital development works, we have limited facilities and amenities available for Open Access until July 2022.

There is access to the foundry, forge, wood & metal workshops and bothy kitchen.

There is no access to ceramics, communities room/library, studio, accommodation, accessible toilets or baby changing facilities.

From July/August 2022 we expect all facilities and amenities to be open as usual.

How to request Open Access

SSW is currently fully booked for Open Access until December 2022 and we cannot support any further requests. We are sorry for any disappointment this might cause. Should any space become available we will advertise this via our newsletter and social media.

If you are interested in booking Open Access for 2023 please get in touch via email – contact jenny@ssw.org.uk or phone SSW on 01464 861372.

Groups can undertake independent practice, or we can help tailor a programme of technical instruction. Please contact us if you are interested in bespoke group tuition.
