Our experimental ceramics workshop offers you space, specialist teaching and equipment to support the development of your clay skills and ceramics practice.
From building and forming, through to firing and glazing, the ceramics workshop welcomes complete beginners through to those with an established practice, with the support of our part-time Ceramics Technician.
The studio is bright and open, equipped with three electric kilns of various sizes, (link to kiln booking service) and access to outdoor atmospheric firings such as raku and smoke firing. There are four electric wheels (2 x shimpos, 1x tabletop with hand lever, 1 x Podmore sit-on wheel) and a treadle wheel. A wall mounted extruder and slab roller to facilitate handbuilding alongside workbenches of adjustable heights. Our glaze lab is equipped with comprehensive and experimental glazing resources such as scales and a small selection of ashes and stones. There is also a wide range of standard glaze raw materials and clays available to buy and use in our clay shop.
