SSW is excited to be partnering with Unlimited for this years Partner Awards.
This Partner Award offers a £15,000 award to a Scotland based, disabled artist working in any discipline, to develop a new project and undertake a four-week residency here at SSW using our workshop spaces.
Through the Partner Award the artist will receive:
- An award of £15,000 for the development of a new project or idea
- A four-week residency here at SSW with accommodation, taken as one block or split across multiple shorter stays
- Access to metal and ceramics workshops
- Induction and support from Scottish Sculpture Workshop’s technical team
- Advice on producing, curation, and communications from Scottish Sculpture Workshop’s programme team during the residency period
- Documentation of your research and development in an online format of your choice. For example a blog post with images, video, or audio recording shared via Scottish Sculpture Workshop’s channels
Cat Sheridan, Senior Producer, Unlimited, says of the Partner Awards:
“These awards [with each partner across England, Scotland and Wales] mean 11 disabled artists can make ambitious new work with a partner invested in them from day one. Not just funding, but a real relationship with a venue or festival that will champion what they create. At a time when arts organisations are stretched thinner than ever, we’re testing whether this partnership model gets money, and more meaningful opportunities directly to disabled artists.”
Sam Trotman, SSW Programme and Partnerships Director, says of the partnership:
“Workshops are places of transformation, where artists can rebuild the world anew. SSW is excited to partner with Unlimited to do just that – throwing open the workshop doors and rethinking what is possible to create together.“
