Moving out, with exciting times ahead: October 2021

Eden, Senior Technician, packing and moving out in SSW style.

It’s time! We are packing and moving out of the main building at SSW so the first phase of our capital development work can get underway.

In the first phase we will be redeveloping the main building- improving orientation and navigation, creating an exciting new Community Making Space and upgrading our ceramics workshop and artists’ accommodation. This work is the start of our ambitious plan to transform the accessibility and environmental sustainability of the SSW site over the coming years. You can read more about this here.

Over the winter months, the SSW team will be working from temporary offices. Projects, such as BEPART, and Courses will continue to run, but we are not able to support Open Access or Residency bookings from October 2021 – January 2022, for everyone’s comfort and care.

From January – February 2022 we may be able to support Open Access across the Foundry, Forge, Wood and Metal workshops, with very limited amenities and without accommodation. For details on how to request this see Open Access.

We plan to re-open the site fully from April 2022, and are accepting requests for Open Access ‘as usual’ from then. We will be working closely with the contractors, architects and brilliant capital development project manager Jane to keep you updated, should this change.

For questions relating to residency, courses or open access please email Programme & Communications Manager, Jenny on jenny[at]ssw.org.uk.
