Sonic Valley: Sound workshop for teenagers

Sonic Valley (funded by YMI Aberdeenshire and Live Life Aberdeenshire)
Wednesday 18 – Friday 20 October
10 am – 5 pm (1-hour lunch break, lunch provided), Community Making Space
Open to anyone aged 15-18, regardless of experience.

Playwright Neil Cargill and sound artist Tyler Lewis will deliver this three-day workshop for 15-18 year olds, as part of the Youth Music Initiative programme for Aberdeenshire. Together, they’ll create an online radio programme by fusing original music, words, sounds and imagination. This collaborative project will explore innovative ways of developing a sonic work that can be shared online with listeners throughout Scotland and potentially a global audience.

Recording sounds from the area, making musical enhancements, and adding spoken word, participants will learn the process of field recording, script writing, studio production, and working as a team.

Sessions are free. This project is designed for young people ages 15-18. Free transportation available with advance notice. Please get in touch via email: communities@ssw.org.uk or phone: 01464 861372 and inform us of any food allergies or intolerances.
