The Bothy has a large table and lots of chairs. It is a flexible communal space that is used for working on laptops, reading and meetings.
It also contains a small laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rack and an accessible toilet.

Entrance
To access the Bothy you can either use steps or a ramp. There are 5 wide steps with hand rails either side, black contrast nosings and tactile paving at the bottom and top of the steps. The concrete ramp has handrails either side and is 107cm at it’s narrowest point.
This building has two doors, a front and a back door. The front door is a single non-automated door that is 78cm wide and it is locked at night time with a key code. The back door is a non-automated single door that is 80cm wide and is locked with a keycode. The back door opens out onto the paved path around the edge of the building as well as a public access grass path and a farmers field. The paved path around the building is 107cm at it’s narrowest point.

Flooring
The flooring inside the Bothy is smooth cream beige vinyl flooring with underfloor heating? The flooring surrounding the Bothy and the ramp is large grey and cream paving slabs.
Lighting
There is a variety of lighting available. Outside there are outdoor lights around the edge of the building. Inside there are three warm shaded pendant ceiling lights over the dining table. In the kitchen area there are several bright unshaded ceiling spot lights and under cupboard bright strip lighting, both are LED. In the laundry area there is a bright unshaded wall pendant LED light. In the bathroom there is another unshaded bright LED light and a skylight window which allows natural light in during the day.
There is also natural lighting throughout the Bothy from several large and small windows during the day.

Seating
There is a wooden bench on wheels with loose cushions and several loose wooden chairs with a hard seat and back and no arms. There is other seating available on site that can be moved in here if needed.
Sensory Notes
There are extraction fans in the kitchen but of course there will be cooking scents noticeable in this building. The extraction fans do make a loud noise. The laundry area smells like washing powder which can be scented and perfumed. The only noticeable pattern is the white rectangular tiles in the bathroom with black grout between them creating a grid like pattern. During the warmer months artists and staff use the surrounding outdoor area to have a communal fire or to relax and eat outdoors. The scent of the fire will be detectable in the kitchen and in the courtyard during communal fires. In the adjacent field there are often sheep from the farm and with sheep come ticks so if you are sitting on the grass please be aware of this.
Nearest Accessible Toilets
The nearest accessible bathroom is through the internal doorway which leads to the laundry area and then the bathroom. The internal doorway is a single non-automated door which is 80cm wide and is usually left open. The bathroom door is a sliding door with a manual lock and the doorway is 80cm wide. The bathroom is 120cm wide at it’s narrowest point. The bathroom contains grab bars, a red emergency pull cord and a lowered sink.
