Euan Ogilvie rounds off his technical placement as Eden Jolly’s assistant at SSW with a flourish.
This afternoon Euan cast his own work for an exhibition he has coming up at the Glue Factory in Glasgow on the 13th of July, for the last metal pour of his placement here at SSW, so if you are in Glasgow on the 13th be sure to check out the fruits of his labor!
Visiting Artist Bronwen Sleigh also helped with the pour, with supervisory assistance from senior technician Eden and technical ceramics placement Kevin Morris.Working with Aluminium, the pouring process was a relaxing experience, more-so than casting in bronze which cools much more quickly. As the metal reaches the point when it is ready to be poured, the surface layer begins to resemble crystalline structures in appearance.
All the best to Euan for his exhibition in Glasgow, he has been a great part of the SSW team and we will be very sad to see him go!
