What a Spring and Summer we have had in Lumsden! Blue skies, long days, short nights and much outdoor fun. We kicked off our Spring Community Making Space programme with a wide range of Thursday Making Sessions. Introducing the SSW Materials Garden

This year, as part of the completion of Phase 1 of our Capital work at SSW we started to slowly cultivate a Materials Garden. The Materials Garden is currently formed of a number of raised beds and recently cleared borders that now contain plants for natural dyeing and various willow and small tree varieties for future use in creating armatures, ash glazes and green wood working. Our stone carving facilities are available in our yard and can be open air or under one of our covered areas. Our bankers (individual stone carving benches) are all wheelchair accessible and can be adjusted to suit people of different heights or different sized stone. We can provide maltese and portland limestone to buy, and we use stone with lower silica content to reduce the impact on our team and users. Equipment includes: 4x sets of fire sharp chisels and […]
