Community Making Space Autumn Programme 2025

We are excited to share our Autumn Community Making Space programme developed in collaboration with our Community Advisory Group and other members of our local community.

Check out the full programme in the menu on the right and head to the bottom of this page for more info on booking.

Come along to Scottish Sculpture Workshop this Autumn for a new season of making, sharing and learning together. As the days grow shorter and colder, our Community Making Space invites you indoors for hands-on sessions that celebrate the materials around us, local knowledge, and the skills we can learn and share together.

From October to December, join us for free daytime, evening and school holiday sessions, where we’ll explore a wide range of techniques and processes. Together we’ll reflect on the changing seasons, enjoy one another’s company, and prepare for the festive months with special celebrations.

This season we will be introducing a new strand of the Community Making Space programme – The Mid Week Makes. Developed with feedback from the local community, we have introduced a new evening session that will run weekly on a Wednesday from 6-8pm. Come and join us each week to test out a new making process working with clay, paper and local flora. Each session you will also be able to take your artworks away with you.

Our popular Thursday Making Sessions will now become our Thursday Club  – a space to work on longer term community projects and with materials and techniques that are inspired by the season. During this seasons Thursday Club we will continue to develop the SSW Materials Garden and also work with a range of locally grown materials. Each session includes a free community lunch afterwards shared with the SSW team and artists. The Community Fridge also  runs every Thursday and is available to access during Thursday Clubs.

Clay Socials will continue to take place monthly on a Friday evening from 6-8pm and offer residents of Lumsden, Honeybarrel, Mossat and Kildrummy a chance to come together, socialise, have a blether and have free access to working with clay and learn related processes including handbuilding, coiling and glazing amongst others.  Think the local pub but with added pottery!

We will also be embracing the spooky season during our Kids Holiday Club which will be packed full of Halloween themed fun, games, and art making. Kids Club is open to 7-14 year olds and includes free lunch, snacks and refreshments. Join us for the Lumsden Halloween Party on Saturday 1st Nov 6-8pm at the Lumsden Village Hall for an all ages party where you’ll also get the chance to check out the hand-made decorations and artworks made by young artists during the SSW Kids Holiday Club.

All sessions are free, with materials and food provided. No previous experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.
