In Spring and Summer 2026, the Community Making Space programme at Scottish Sculpture Workshop brings together a new series of creative sessions shaped around making, growing, gathering and spending time together. Responding to the changing seasons, the programme explores a range of materials, processes and creative approaches inspired by the landscape around us and the rhythms of the year, with opportunities to experiment, learn new skills and make alongside others within the warmth and light of the new season.

The Mid Week Make sessions bring people together on Wednesday evenings to experiment with a range of creative materials and processes. Across the season, participants will explore everything from making cordage using natural fibres and plant materials to woodblock printing, wheel throwing and glass fusing through relaxed, hands-on sessions led by artists and local makers.

Thursday Club continues as a daytime space for shared making, conversation and learning connected to the SSW Materials Garden. Working with this busy season, sessions will explore growing, gathering and making with materials from SSW and the local area through activities including natural-dyeing, working with local materials and fibres, composting and learning about natural building processes including cob and rammed earth. Each session kicks off with a spot of gardening and ends with  a free community lunch at 1.30pm shared with the SSW team and artists.

The Community Fridge also runs every Thursday from 11am and is available to access before and during Thursday Clubs.

Clay Socials continue to take place monthly on a Friday evening from 6-8pm for residents of Lumsden, Honeybarrel, Mossat, Towie and Kildrummy. They are a chance to come together, socialise, have a blether and have free access to working with clay and learn related processes including handbuilding and press molding amongst others.  Think the local pub but with added pottery!

We round off our Spring/Summer Programme with our Summer Holiday Kids Club led by artist Josie Ko. Kids Club is open to 7-14 year olds and runs from 10am-1.30pm across five days. Children under 7 are also welcome to come along but must be accompanied by their parent/caregiver.

This is also only open to young people from Lumsden, Honeybarrel, Mossat, Towie and Kildrummy

All of the Community Making Space programme is free, with materials and food/ refreshments provided. No previous experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.

If you experience a barrier to taking part please still get in touch and we will work with you to address this.
