Introduction to SSW and Surrounding Area

Scottish Sculpture Workshop is based in the village of Lumsden, a rural inland village in Aberdeenshire with approximately 400 inhabitants. The village is one main road with small side roads and paths either side. It is surrounded by farmland and countryside. The main road in the village has pavements with drop curbs at occasional crossing points. The crossing points are silent and without blister paving. Entrances and Car Park

SSW has one entrance for cars into the courtyard and several different possible entrances directly into the main building. The entrance for drivers is through a gate next to the main SSW building. Drivers can park in the courtyard. The courtyard and surrounding paths of the building are uneven in places and can be rocky, grassy or overgrown in the warmer months and slippery in the Winter months, however de-icing salt is laid regularly. Wellbeing Room

A relaxed room used by artists and staff to use when they need time away from communal spaces, a space to rest or to do work which requires some quiet space.
