1982

Eden passed on images of iron pours from as far back as 1982 and this one I thought was very appropriate for the time of year.

Leeds Invasion…

Students from Leeds College of Art descended on SSW for a week long workshop in the foundry. The project was inspired by the 2012 Olympics and the students created their own medals to cast into bronze. Although SSW facilities were groaning slightly under the strain – SSW has never had so many people in residence – the full house brought with it a surge of energy in the studios. The students have all been fantastic and made it an exciting […]

How time passes when you're having fun!

Hi everyone! Sorry for not blogging for over a week, its been busy and crazy here in the SSW community room, but we have had a great week. Unfortunately, Jules had to head back home after her time here working with the local children and community….she went with a bang too. She arranged a pub quiz in the Lumsden local and it was a great night full of laughs, partying and it was well turned out. Thanks to everyone who […]

Good morning Miss Barnes, Good morning Mr. Priestley, Good morning everyone!

So we were back to school this week; teachers, small chairs and nostalgic puddings included.  Craig and I had planned a two day workshop for the P4-P7s at Lumsden Primary and we had been excited about it all weekend.  The radio station build was simultaneously gathering momentum back in the workshop and it feels like this unique project is really coming together.  But we want it to grow wings… So that’s where the children play a huge role.  Not only […]

A Continuous Process

As a first post for the SSW blog I have selected a few images from Sunday’s demonstrations by local talented artists, crafts people and tradesmen. It was a privilege to meet the artisans and observe their ease around the materials. They will be here again this Sunday (18th) to continue the process as part of The Lost Hand Programme running during NEOS at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop. The images include a Specialist Painter, a Stone Mason, a Cooper, a traditional […]

Welcome to the Goodman's Croft

Sign maker Ali at SSW NEOS open studios We’ve arrived! Me and my shining brilliant assistant and radio consultant Craig Priestley are in the depths of Lumsden ready to begin all things radio. We’ve already been fortunate to stumble across a bustling NEOS weekend and met with a signmaker, Ali, who’s begun work on our own Radio logo.  Watch this space I’m sure. The aim this week is to touch base, learn, collate and start building a unique radio […]
