Artists announced for North AiR: Expanding Entanglements

We are pleased to announce that two artists have been selected through an open call to undertake a new and innovative residency programme set up by North AiR, a research network of six organisations, including Scottish Sculpture Workshop, spanning Scotland and Finland, and supported by the Finnish Institute in London. SSW x Counterflows Residency: Sholto Dobie

The SSW x Counterflows residency is a new residency programme which focuses on DIY cultures, improvisation and practices that fall between discipline boundaries. Lumsden Residency: George Ridgway

The second of our Lumsden residency programme artists, George Ridgway, joined us for the month of June to undertake his month long residency alongside our Summer Residency programme. George spent the time developing his practice through experimenting with materials and exploring the local area, which will lead to a workshop in November as part of SSW’s annual Lumsden Weekend. Summer Residencies 2018: June

As the second of our summer residencies comes to a close, we reflect on a beautiful month of incredible weather, art-making, conversation, food, walking, swimming and sauna. We say goodbye and thank you, and wish all the best to our four June Summer Residents; Michael Boyd, Corrie Thomson, Yvette Bathgate, Christiana Bisset and Lumsden Residency artist; George Ridgway.  

SSW GRADUATE AWARD PROGRAMME 2018 – SELECTED ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

In 2018 Scottish Sculpture Workshop launched a new annual Graduate Award programme, devised in collaboration with previous artist residents and graduate award winners. Summer Residencies 2018: May

The first of our summer residencies finished last week with artists Audrey Dazelle, Jack O’Flynn, Yoonjung Kim, Jennifer Clews and Lumsden residency artist’s Anna Wolfe-Pauly and Dorian Braun. Also in residence at this time and dipping into the programme were Naomi Pearce, Katie Anderson and Julia Cowie. We had some beautiful weather and a lot of brilliant work was made. Hoping the weather continues for the next group arriving today.
